Chelsee Hook- Gier Park

I am currently at Gier Park Elementary.  Gier is a Lansing public urban school.  I have been placed in a 2nd grade classroom.  There are 21 students in my class.  The classroom environment is very laid back, but still productive.  The students do a math minute everyday, as well as a spelling word assignment.  My mentor teacher does a lot of literacy centers during the week.  On Monday and Friday the students spend 2 hours between 4 teachers rotating subjects.  For the first 1/3 hour they go across the hall and do a S.S. lesson, and so on.  My mentor teacher has been a pleasure to work with so far.
