Ashleigh Bunten--Wilcox Elementary, Holt

I am in a Kindergarten classroom at Wilcox Elementary School in Holt. I really like my mentor teacher and learn a lot from her each time I go in. I also really enjoy my group of students I help to teach. There are different levels of abilities which gives me practice in teaching all types of students. The biggest problem I run into is trying to keep them on task. They are can be easily distracted and sometimes you need to give them gentle reminders that they have work to do. During our mornings, we typically have literacy instruction on the carpet in front of the smart board for a decent amount of time. My teacher usually focuses on reading and sometimes will include writing during this time. I have only seen one math lesson so far, but I am excited what my students will be learning.
